This week, its Mile High for me...

We are spending the night in Hendersonville with Brit's parents. I fly out super early in the morning.

Chris has been raving about this little place in Hendersonville called Shane's Rib Shack. Its ribs and BBQ and potato salad and a little slice of heaven. It was a-maz-ing. I'd much rather eat BBQ from a joint like that Smokey Bones, ya know? It fits. Not super classy. Not over the top. Just simple, really good food. Loved it.

That's not the point though.

The point is, Ricky Skaggs was there. Bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs.

If you wanted to sum this post up in one sentence, it would be this: Tonight, I ate dinner with Ricky Skaggs.

PS-Joe and Jason: "We never landed on the moon. God bless."

dude - you really might want to disable comments on your blog now.

no blog on how you started the wave in an arena full of people?

to quote you this week: "hey, I started the wave last night!"

oh yeah, oh yeah...

THAT'S UBER-IMPORTANT! how did I leave that out?

I started the freakin' wave!

(I have a feeling that since no one cared in Atlanta, no one will care that wasn't there, ya know? Sad...)

You saw Ricky Skaggs... did you begin weeping in his face. I would have.

Also, I have never commented on here, but have you read Nancy Pearcey's book Total Truth. It explains the creation/fall/redemption/restoration approach to the gospel. I believe that is the way we need to share the gospel.

Yeah, that was one of several books Gabe Lyons recommended during his breakout session when talking about the gospel. (He also recommended one by Chuck Colson and I can't remember the other.) It just makes sense to me, ya know? Like the first time someone sat down with me and talked about what the Bible actually says about life after death. When you take it for what it says, it makes reasonable, logical sense. Glad to hear you feel the same way...

And no, I didn't weep when I saw Mr Skaggs. I already am the proud owner of an autographed glossy photo of him, so I figured I would leave him be with his ribs and coke that night.

And I certainly can imagine Ricky Skaggs and Newsong not being a good mix--that's like mustard on chocolate pie. Not a good blend, ya know? He's still a living legend if you can appreciate some mandolin.

Don't knock mustard on chocolate pie!

I would just like to point out the obvious - it's not safe to tell everyone that you are out of town. You never know who might be reading your blog.
