Dead on.
We elected a talking head president.
I said way back during the election that the presidential race was the greatest reality tv series that we had going.
The winner in this reality show (Obama) seems to have been catapulted to stardom. The second place winner, which I would say is Sarah Palin, is still repeating the rewards of much popularity.
By the way if you like this post send a text to 40404 and write in the name "shoemaker."
I hope things change. I really do. We need to do something about getting all US citizens health care. We need to do something about the ongoing wars/conflicts overseas. We need to stop bailing out big business. We need to do something about the incredible amounts of wasteful spending.
If Obama can tackle one of these major issues in his first term, he will have accomplished something major.
Its a big "if," though. I'm still waiting to see what he's all about. He's likable. He looks good in a suit. The man can deliver a speech. He gets people behind him. But, like Maher said, I don't need that. I need a president that's gonna change things.
PS-What the heck is the text "40404" thing, Terry?
you know, I was rolling along with the reality tv show theme. if you want so and so to win, text "___" to _____. sorry that you didn't get my humor.
in my best Chris Farley voice: "Man! I'm such an idiot! So stupid!"
JD by "we" who exactly are you referring to?
The big thing I've noticed about Obama is that he desperately cares what the American public thinks of him. Take the CIA torture situation for example. First he exposes the information, then says we won't prosecute anyone, then says we'll probably prosecute some, then says we'll release pics, then says we won't release pics, then say's we'll release censored pics.... It's however the public is swaying him. I guess it's still better than Bush, who cared less what the american people thought. At least it's somewhat democratic....
